Camp Quality Texas is an organization that strives to let kids with cancer be kids again! Our camp is one week long from July 9-15th, and we serve children with cancer and their siblings. Our campers are ages 4-18 yrs, and all of them have been impacted by pediatric cancer in some way. If you're wondering how your org relates to our mission--it's simple. We aim to have a diverse body of volunteers with diverse interests. Cancer does not discriminate, so we have kids of all shapes and sizes with all kinds of interests who are hoping to relate to someone like them!

We accept volunteers aged 16 or older. Here is a brief overview of our different volunteer opportunities:

Program Staff- Any volunteer over the age of 16 can be on program staff. These volunteers work behind the scenes to run games, set up and take down activities, and make camp run smoothly for everyone! They stay in cabins with other program staff and really set the tone for camp.

- Companions- Any volunteer over the age of 18 can be a companion. These volunteers are paired up one-on-one with a kid who becomes their camper for the week. Companions do everything with their camper and make sure that it's the best week ever for them! They stay in a cabin with other kids their campers' age and do all of the activities that their camper wants to do.

- Medical Staff- Anyone over the age of 18 who is a licensed nurse, doctor, or paramedic can serve on our medical staff. These volunteers administer medications, monitor symptoms as directed by campers' oncologists, and attend to the regular ol' summer camp boo-boos! They stay in cabins with other med staff and remain on call throughout the night. These volunteers are led by our Medical Coordinator who is a practicing ER doctor. Many of our medical volunteers began their time with us as staff or companions and moved onto the medical team at the end of their schooling. Aspiring nurses and doctors generally make up a notable portion of our volunteer base.

- Camp Organizing Committee- This is a year round opportunity to assist with the behind-the-scenes of CQTX. We have positions available in Public Relations, Recruitment, Fundraising, and more! We are an ever-growing organization, and we are always looking for fresh ideas to market ourselves and expand the ways that we serve families affected by pediatric cancer.
There is more information about our mission in the attached document, and registration can be found on our website: https://www.campqualityusa.org/tx/ways-to-help/donate-time/volunteers/

Finally, if you or members of your org know any children who would benefit from our programs, feel free to share our information with them!

I began volunteering with CQTX the year I graduated high school, and it totally changed my life! Please let them know that they are welcome to email me or our Volunteer Coordinator with any questions that may come up. Thanks in advance for sharing!
